We talk about how we can’t do anything about the big problems of the world. We can’t change Washington politics, we can’t improve our national economy, we can’t stop climate change, we can’t feed all the hungry in our communities, we can’t save all the students who are struggling. We can’t. Can’t! CAN’T.
Well, maybe we can.
There is a trope in fiction that if you were to time travel to the past, you would need to be desperately careful not to change anything, because one small action could set off a cascade of events that changes history. If we believe that’s plausible about changing the past – why can’t it be plausible about changing the future? One small action today could set off a cascade of events that changes history. It could be you who does it. Be brave enough to see past the CAN’T and give it a try.
You never know.
